United Way of Central Massachusetts

Help educators across Central Massachusetts build a working understanding of generative AI and translate it into their classrooms. United Way wanted teachers prepared for both sides of the shift: using the tools in their own planning and administrative work, and guiding students who were already experimenting with AI without knowing how to use it well.

Students were already using AI. Their teachers had no framework for responding to it, and 47% named overreliance and loss of independent thinking as their single biggest concern.

Educators left with a shared  understanding of generative AI and a set of tools they could put to work immediately. The program paired a 25-page curriculum with a standalone resource library covering lesson planning, prompt and context engineering, tool selection, and student-facing activities, all built for reuse after the sessions ended. Because the training was shaped by the cohort's own survey responses, it answered the questions teachers actually brought with them. Teachers who came in skeptical left equipped and confident, ready to use AI in their own work and to guide students already using it.
